"DOM"Dom is a very sweet and beautiful young boy. Dom has earned 11 points towards his AKC Championship. Sadly, we will not be able to help Dom complete his Championship. Unfortunately, Dom was diagnosed with Cataracts while having his CERF Exam completed in February of 2009 by Ben W. Johnson, DVM, DACVO. This fact was NOT disclosed to us before purchasing Dom on June 5th 2009 with Full Registration and Full Breeding Rights. Nor was this fact openly disclosed on the "searchable online verification" website of the vmdb.org. Before purchasing Dom we reviewed, the CanineHealthInfo.org (CHIC Certification), the OFFA.org, and Tricia Clements' website, which all showed Dom as being CHIC Certified # 36388. But, the whole truth concerning Dom's health was not disclosed. Just one week after acquiring Dom, we noticed that Dom was having trouble seeing. We witnessed Dom bumping into several different objects and also running into a large tree. On June 12th 2009, Dom was diagnosed by our Veterinarian Scott Smith, DVM with Ear Mites, Cataracts, and a damaged Salivary Gland with a swelling pocket of fluid in his throat. On August 14th 2009, we received Dom's HSF4 Hereditary Cataract Mutation test result. Dom's Certificate # AC2044, completed by the Animal Health Trust, revealed that Dom has TWO COPIES of the HSF4 Mutation and that Dom will pass this HSF4 Mutation to ALL of his offspring. Dom was neutered on October 13th 2009. By an e-mail received on April 18th 2010, C.A. Sharp verified that CH. Briarbrook's Silverware and CH. Briarbrook's Private Reserve must have at least "one copy" of the HSF4 Mutation. Fortunately, Dom did not sire any litters with our Females, as a result of our health testing. Please Note: Lily Luster, Jamie Orr, and Michayla Luster bred Dom to Rushcreek's Heart Breaker. According to Lily Luster's documents, this litter of 12 puppies were born on April 13th 2008. Lily Luster was formerly known as Ramsey Creek Kennel residing in the Ramsey Illinois area. She is now known as Willow Wind Chessies and she has relocated to the Colorado Springs Colorado area. One of these intact female pups in this litter was originally acquired by Heather Blackford of XsellsAussies.com. Heather Blackford sold this intact female, at the approximate age of 21 months with her newly attained AKC Championship, to another Breeder without testing this female for the HSF4 Mutation. The new Owner/Breeder tested this female which revealed "one copy" of the HSF4 Mutation. Another intact female pup in this litter was acquired by Lori Meyer of ReyemAussies.net. If you own any of these puppies from this April 13th 2008 litter, please be aware that ALL of these Aussie pups, will have at least "One Copy" of the HSF4 - Hereditary Cataract Mutation. If you own an Australian Shepherd, please be responsible and help to better the Australian Shepherd Breed as a whole. Before you breed, HEALTH TEST your Aussies, including the HSF4 - Hereditary Cataract Mutation test.
